Terrible Two's?

It's been a long wonderful week. I will get to all the family and pictures later (we've been in So Cal all week and in Grass Valley Saturday and Sunday), but I just wanted to share the events of today. We went to church in Grass Valley and Cassidy was a handful. She wouldn't sit still (which is normal), but she was more rambunctious than usual. She kept trying to "escape" by leaving the area where we were sitting and she would kind of throw a fit everytime we would try to pick her up to get her from doing what she shouldn't. I was thinking it was due to the fact that we were at church somewhere different. Needless-to-say, I couldn't wait to take her to nursery (which is only available for the 2nd and 3rd hour of church, everyone stays together for the first hour). We got out of our last meeting a little late and it was a bit of a pain to get to the other side of the church building because there were so many people talking in the room we were in and in the narrow halls. When I finally got there she was the last one to be picked up (I don't know how all the other parents got there so fast!) and she wasn't happy. Apparently she was fine the whole time, but once parents started coming to pick up the kids, she lost it. Poor thing was standing in a corner just crying. It broke my heart to see her so sad like that. So she was pouting all the way back to Dustin's parent's house.

Then as we were walking to the door we were each holding one of her hands and swinging her and right before we got to the door, I think Dustin accidentally squeezed Cassidy's hand too hard and it hurt her and she started crying again. She only wanted me to hold her for a while. She eventually got over it. We were able to get through lunch, pack up our things and head back home. Luckily she fell asleep within about 3 minutes. I was happy because I've kind of had enough of taking care of a cranky toddler in the car.

When we got home I just wanted to lay on the couch for a little bit because I was so tired and worn out. She wouldn't have it. She wanted me to be off the couch and playing with her. Luckily she was satisfied to play with Dustin for a while and I was able to rest. Then it felt like left and right she was throwing a fit. I don't even know what triggered it half the time. We sat down to have dinner and apparently we were taking too long and by the time we said a prayer and I put her plate on her tray she wanted nothing to do with it. She just balled her eyes out. By this time I wanted to pull my hair out. So, Cassidy didn't end up eating dinner. She got in the bathtub about 6pm and was in bed by 6:40pm. Yup, that's about an hour before her normal bedtime. I think that with her usual schedule being so out of whack, she needed it...and oh, Dustin and I needed it. We just needed her to be in bed. We love her, but it really becomes a lot to handle when she's throwing a fit and balling her eyes out over what seems like nothing every 15 minutes. Goodnight Cassidy. We love you. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

A First

So, Cassidy has never taken her own diaper off before, but she did this morning! Most mornings I'm out of the house before anyone gets up. Cassidy usually sleeps until about 7:30 or 7:45 and I try to leave no later than 7:15am. But around 7 this morning I hear her starting to fuss and it escalated quickly, so I offered to get her up, thinking that I would change her diaper and bring her into our room with Dustin. When I walk in, I see her diaper on the floor...a bad sign. It kind of smelled bad in her room, so I checked it to see if there was a "surprise " in her diaper and there wasn't. I was confused because she was still pretty upset and she usually perks up once we come in. So I went over to her crib and discovered where the smell was coming from. So apparently, she took her diaper off and then went number 2. We've been trying to get her to go to the bathroom on her little potty, but it's only happend once. She likes to sit on it, but nothing seems to ever happen. She's been pretty good lately about telling us that she needs a diaper change when she's poppy, so it seems that she's starting to realize that it's uncomfortable. The only thing that I can think of that happened this morning was that she took her daiper off knowing that she was going to go and didn't want to have to sit in a dirty diaper, but didn't realize that it would instead be down her leg and in her bed. So, none-the-less, we had a very messy and chaotic morning. I really hope she doesn't continue to take her diaper off all the time. Maybe she learned her lesson. But I have hopes for some progress in potty training!

Got a New Hairdo

So, I've had the same hairdo pretty much since high school. There have been some slight changes here and there, but really, it's looked the same. I've been wanting to change it for a while and finally got the courage (and push from some friends at work). One of my friend's sister does hair so we all got together yesterday and got our hair done. I'm super excited about it. It actually looks different. Yay for me!

Halloween

We started our Halloween festivities the weekend before Halloween by going to a party hosted by my friend Stephanie, from work. A few other work friends came and it was a lot of fun. They had a bouce house. I'm not going to lie, we kicked the kids out for 10 minutes and had some fun big kid time. We also had a pumpkin carving contest. Mine was pretty good, he hed lopsided eyes and ears...I tried to make im look like that one guy from the movie Goonies. You know who I'm talking about... "Hey...you... guys!" I wish I took a picture of it, but I didn't. Bummer. But here's some picture of my cute Little Red Riding Hood (who won the kids costume contest, might I add), friends from work, and the family. Don't ask what Dustin was for Halloween, because he didn't even know.

She didn't really like the hood, she kept trying to take it off.
Not the best picture, but the only one we took.

Cheese!

A view of her costume from the back.

Don't ask me why my face looks like its glowing; I think it's the lighting.
My work friends. Me, Krista, and Nicole. I unfortunately didn't get a picture of Stephanie, but she (and her family) were clowns.

***
On Halloween day we went to Dustin's grandparent's house for a crab feed and tick-or-treating. Dustin's parents, and brother and sister-in-law, and nephews were all there. We had such good time. The kids probably had more fun answering the door for the trick-or-treaters than they did actually going trtick-or-treating. Cassidy was so funny. Whenver the door would ring, she dropped whatever was in her hands and would run to the door.
Grandpa giving Cassidy some M&M's...Cassidy was happy to oblige.
The boys had a Halloween activity the night before at church, so they didn't bring their costumes.

I Stuck

Cassidy's vocabulary has grown a ton in the past couple of months. It's been so great being able to communicate more with her; especially since we can understand what she's saying most of the time.

Tonight she was sitting next to me at the dining room table and all of a sudden she yells "I stuck!" Yup, her little foot got stuck on the back of the chair. It was so nice to know exactly what the matter was instead of having to look at my crying and upset baby and try to figure out what's wrong. So I was able to get her un-stuck in just a few seconds.

Crafty

My friend Jessica is super crafty and I'm just not, but kind of want to be. She told me about how she decorates pumpkins with glitter (an idea she got from Martha Stuart) and how pretty it turns out; so she invited me to do it with her this year. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the process, but it was actually a lot of fun. The only hard part is my arm and hands got so tired after a while. The pumpkins can get pretty heavy if you have to hold them by their stem for a long time.

And here they are on display.

Jack O'Lanterns

I haven't carved pumpkins in forever, but I insisted on us doing so this year; especially since we bought all those pumpkins when we went to Davis Ranch. One of the pumpkins was supposed to be used for making a pumpkin pie, but I wasn't really thinking and didn't get the right size (and I kind of didn't want to deal with making it from scratch this year). So both Dustin and I carved one. Dustin's is in the first picture. If you can't tell, it's winking and it's trying to lick the booger hanging out of it's nose...yup, that's my husband. The second one is mine. I know I'm not very creative, but, hey, I was proud of it.
